Lot 28: This antique Caucasian Armenia rug (circa 1900), measuring 320×125 cm, features a beautifully and naturally abrashed indigo blue field, which sets off a series of hexagonal medallions running down the centre. Each medallion is filled with intricate geometric motifs in shades of faded madder red, natural indigo blue, and ivory, adding depth and charm to its design. The border is adorned with small, repeating tribal crab-shaped star motifs in soft tones, framed by narrow guard borders, enhancing its delicate craftsmanship. Originally woven as a wall hanging for use behind a day bed in a village home, this rug showcases Armenian artistry and reflects the geometric detailing of Caucasian tribal weaving traditions

Size: 320x125cm
