This design is characterized by its geometric and repetitive octagonal or diamond-shaped motifs, often incorporating a variety of intricate details that reflect the artistry of Turkoman weavers. The term “Temir” means “iron” in Turkish, while “Dovsin” could be connected to the word for a “loop” or “ring,” suggesting strength and durability, traits highly valued by the Turkoman tribes. This type of design symbolizes tribal identity and is unique to certain Turkoman groups, such as the Yomut or Ersari. The pattern is a testament to the deep-rooted cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the Turkoman people, making these rugs highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.
