Lot 13, A Kilim rug, which is a type of flat-woven rug traditionally made in regions such as Anatolia, the Caucasus, and Persia. Kilims are known for their tribal, geometric designs and lack of pile (as they are woven, not knotted).

This particular Kilim features a rich, multi-coloured pattern with a central field composed of a series of diamond-shaped medallions arranged vertically in a repeating sequence. The central motifs are in varying shades of brown, blue, green, and ivory, creating a striking contrast. Each diamond is filled with intricate geometric designs, typical of tribal weavings. The use of alternating colours within these diamonds adds a sense of rhythm and balance to the overall composition.

The border consists of multiple bands of smaller geometric patterns, with motifs like zigzags, hooked shapes, and triangles. These patterns are repeated across the borders, using colours like rust red, earthy browns, and light blue, which complement the central field. The outermost border has a stepped, angular design, which is a classic feature in many Kilims, reflecting the tribal aesthetic and symbolic meanings often related to protection or guardianship.

Size: 298x207cm
Estimate: $800-$1,000
