Lot 54: Hand-Knotted Afghan Hall-Runner.
Woven by Turkaman artisans in a studio in Mazar-Sharif, circa 2015.
It is woven from a 16th century Shah-Abbasi pattern used in a border of a very large carpet in Safavid era. Featuring a classic 16th-century Shah-Abbasi floral motif (guls), reminiscent of the Safavid era, it honours a rich cultural heritage.
Handspun wool pile dyed with natural vegetable pigments ensures both vibrancy and durability.
