Lot 54: Hand-Knotted Afghan, Inspired by 19th-Century Border Design. This Afghan hall runner, crafted by Turkaman artisans in Mazar-Sharif circa 2015. It is woven from a 16th century Shah-Abbasi pattern used in a border of a very large carpet in Safavid era. Featuring a classic 16th-century Shah-Abbasi floral motif (guls), reminiscent of the Safavid era, it honours a rich cultural heritage. The handspun wool pile dyed with natural vegetable pigments ensures both vibrancy and durability. Measuring 316×81 cm, this piece is a timeless blend of historical artistry and contemporary craftsmanship.
