Superb Antique Ensi-Hatchli Turkmen Rug – 140x105cm | RRP $6,000
Woven circa 1920 and preserved in immaculate condition, this exceptional antique Ensi-Hatchli is a traditional Turkmen doorway rug, originally woven to hang at the entrance of a nomadic yurt. Its distinctive compartmentalised geometric design reflects the rich tribal symbolism and weaving traditions of the Turkmen people.
Finely hand-knotted in an all-wool construction, the rug features a superbly compact weave, strong natural character and beautifully preserved colours. Its rarity, age and remarkable condition make it an outstanding collector’s piece and an authentic example of early 20th-century Turkmen textile art.
